The Precapitular Commission, gathered in Rome from 7th to 27th June to continue its work of preparation of the XVII General Chapter, has prepared some documents for this purpose. The website www.comboni.org, now renewed and re-structured, avails them to all those who are in possession of the username and password of the site.

The precapitular commission has gathered in Rome from 7th to 26th June to continue its work of preparation of the XVII General Chapter. The commission was established at the end of last year by the General Council and is composed by the confreres Fr. Daniel Cerezo Ruiz, Fr. Giuseppe Filippi, Fr. Tesfaye Tadesse Gebreselassie, Bro. Daniele Giusti, Fr. Claudio Lurati, Fr. Joseph Mumbere Musanga, Fr. Enrique Sanchez e Fr. Antonio Villarino.

Guided by the reports of the Continental Assemblies and by the pre-existing documents, including the personal contributions of confreres, the commission has prepared a tool for the Chapter’s discernment on the three chosen themes: Mission, Formation and Governance. In line with its title (“From the Plan of Comboni to the Plan of the Comboni Missionaries: re-qualification of the Mission, of Formation and Governance”), this Chapter wants to conclude the process started with the Ratio Missionis, leading it to the formulation of operational decisions that will guide the Institute in the next years. In other words: what should the Institute be and what priorities it chooses in this “hour of God” to be the continuation, in today’s history, of the Charism of Saint Daniele Comboni?

The Commission has also reviewed the Statute of the Chapter, prepared a draft of the Chapter’s program and of its introductory week, edited the various reports the Chapter has to consider and examine and addressed all the logistic details required by the Chapter. It will gather again in Rome on the 25th of August for the last phases of the Chapter’s preparation.
