Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos has authorized the purchase of an over $60 million last generation luxury jet, reports the Portuguese news agency Lusa quoting a presidential dispatch. Angola is an emerging power, but is still weighed by the economic and social repercussions of an over 27 year civil war. Dos Santos is in office since 1979.

The presidential document, issued to the Angolan ministry of Transport, does not clarify the intended use for the jet, only stating “the necessity to purchase the aircraft model Bombardier inc Global 6000”. The aircraft, considered as one of the most advanced in the luxury segment, has a 12-passenger capacity with an over 900 km/ per hour speed. [MISNA: VG/BO].
