The 14th January 2023 we have witnessed a colourful celebration of the episcopal Ordination and Installation of Msgr. Dominic Eibu mccj as the Bishop of the Kotido Catholic Diocese. The main consecrator His Grace Emmanuel Obbo, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Tororo Ecclesiastical Province  encouraged his brother bishop to stay close to the flock entrusted to him.

With the words of Pope Francis, he invited him to have the "scent of his sheep". Citing the First Reading of the Liturgy from the Prophet Isaiah the Main consecrator made a beautiful connection of the episcopal motto of Bishop Dominic "console my people" to the job description of the Yahweh's servant in Isaiaih 61. Proclaming and living the Gospel, the new bishop is to bring consolation and good news to his people.

All the four Ecclesiastical provinces of Uganda have been represented by their Bishops. The apostolic vicar to Alexandria Msgr. Claudio Lurati mccj and the Bishop of Wau Msgr. Matthew Remigio were among the Bishops who laid their hands on bishop Dominic. The Comboni Family has been fully represented by Fr. Elias Sindjalim, the Provincial Superior of Uganda and many Comboni Priests, Sisters and Brothers. The Kotido Diocesan Priests have pledged their allegiance and obedience to their new shepherd.

The colourful celebration has indeed been the beginning of the consolation that the new bishop is bringing to Kotido. This has also been appreciated by the representative of the Government of Uganda HE Jessica Alupo and many political leaders.
