Bishop Matthew Remijo Adam, in South Sudan: “Go Beyond Ethnicities”

Bishop Matthew Remijo Adam Gbitiku of South Sudan’s Wau Diocese has urged members of the Catholic Men Association (CMA) in his Episcopal See to go beyond their respective ethnicities, and instead strive for collaboration to bring positive change to society. [ACI Africa]
Speaking at the launch of the CMA Strategic plan for the year 2022-2025 in his Diocese, Bishop Remijo said South Sudan underscored the need for South Sudanese to bring together their talents to develop their country. “Collaborate and work together as a team”, he told the CMA members during the July 18 event, and encouraged them to make good use of their individual ideas by sharing them, going beyond their “differences, tribes, and ethnicities because all these destroy the society and country”.
The South Sudanese member of the Comboni Missionaries (MCCJ) acknowledged the resourcefulness of the world’s youngest nation, saying, “We are rich with resources; we need somebody to come and open our eyes so that we make use of the resources we have.”
“If members gather their ideas together, they can achieve more,” the 51-year-old Catholic Bishop who has been at the helm of Wau Diocese since his Episcopal Consecration in January 2021 said during the July 18 launch of the strategic plan aimed at enhancing sustainability of CMA in Wau Diocese.
