Vocation Story: An only son, but never lonely

When a college student, Jemboy Caspis Salarde told his parents he wanted to be a missionary priest, they felt that such a vocation would deprive them of their only treasure. He waited. He even tried to put the call aside. Until he was no longer able to hold it back. Finally, the parents agreed: “Go with our blessing”. Today, he is working with the Pokots, an ethnic group of Kenya, certain that dad and mum understand that God desires their son’s happiness more than they do. [Comboni Missionaries]

Mi nombre es David Aguilera, laico misionero comboniano de Granada, España, con próximo destino a Etiopía. En esta etapa, que se plantea dentro de mi preparación, he sido alumno de la Escuela de Formación Misionera de San Pio X. Desde mi experiencia, ha sido una gracia y un regalo, puesto que supone un punto de inflexión este proceso encaminado a mi misión en Etiopía, o en cualquier lugar donde Dios me ponga. Fr. David Glenday: “Prayer as the heart of the Chapter”

“To live the Chapter as a gift of prayer. To live prayer as the very heart of the Chapter, not merely as a very essential preparation, nor merely as a very essential accompaniment but prayer as the place where our Chapters are born, from where they are generated, where the decisions and orientations of the Chapter are conceived. Prayer as the place where the Chapter finds it courage, hope, strength imagination, creativity. Prayer as the place to which the Chapter will lead our missionary family. Prayer as the destination.” With these words Fr. David Glenday, Comboni, began his reflections at the beginning of the XI General Chapter of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate (PIME). The XI Chapter (4-29 November) ended on the afternoon of the 29th with the Eucharistic celebration of thanksgiving presided by Card. Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples.
Riunione del Gruppo di riflessione sull’islam in Malawi

Il Gruppo di riflessione sull’islam si è riunito dal 26 al 28 novembre 2018 a Lilongwe, in Malawi. Il Gruppo riunisce i missionari comboniani rappresentanti dell’Africa anglofona e francofona e vuole essere uno strumento per approfondire alcuni temi sull’islam e offrire proposte pastorali per quanto riguarda il rapporto tra cristiani e musulmani. Su questo punto ha insistito la lettera del Consiglio Generale (vedi allegato) ai partecipanti, ricordando quanto sia importante che “il gruppo di riflessione non abbia solo finalità formative ma […] dia anche indicazioni pastorali che siano concrete e percorribili”. I partecipanti all'incontro hanno scritto una lettera in francese e inglese (vedi allegato) ai confratelli, suore e laici comboniani che lavorano in Centrafrica. Nessuno dal Centrafrica è venuto all'incontro dovuto all’instabilità che si vive nel paese.
