Missionary animation consists in communicating the passion for Mission. It is not an activity of marketing or simple recruitment of human resources. It is the ability to involve one’s Church in the effective understanding of the Mandatum Novum of Our Lord Jesus Christ. All this in the Christian certainty that, as John Paul II wrote, “Faith is strengthened when it is given to others!” (RM2), explaining further that “the urgency of missionary evangelization is the fact that it is the primary service which the Church can render to every individual and to all humanity in the modern world, a world which has experienced marvelous achievements but which seems to have lost its sense of ultimate realities and of existence itself. ” (RM2). Anna Moccia [in the picture] gives her testimony on missionary animation at the General Assembly of Missionary Animation in Rome, on April 23rd 2024. Her reflection elaborates on the role of the Spirit in guiding missionary animation and on the outcomes of such process, that led to some interesting innovations in this ministerial field. El viernes 22 de junio concluyó en Verona (Italia) la Asamblea provincial de las Misioneras Combonianas de Europa. La congregación está en plena reestructuración de circunscripciones y actualmente todo el continente europeo constituye una única provincia con comunidades en Italia, Portugal, España y Reino Unido. La asamblea abordó las principales cuestiones de la vida de la Provincia en un contexto marcado por el gran número de hermanas mayores.

The Salesian Sisters serve the poor and needy in the midst of a brutal war in Sudan. The sisters commiunity, Dar Mariam, has been a refuge for hundreds, though has damaged by gunfire and bombs. May 2024. For over a year, the people of Sudan — one of the largest countries in Africa — have suffered under a brutal civil war that has reduced the capital, Khartoum, to a war zone. Daniele Comboni la incontrò casualmente una prima volta nel paesino di Erbezzo (Verona), nel maggio del 1871, dove una folla attendeva convinta un’apparizione mariana. Tra la gente una giovane di 22 anni, curiosa ma scettica in attesa degli eventi. L’atteggiamento non sfuggì a padre Comboni che, su incarico della curia veronese, stava verificando la veridicità di quella supposta apparizione.
