In ‘A Sign for the Times’ you will meet men and women who continue to follow in the footsteps of St. Daniel Comboni by bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the more unfortunate and disadvantaged of our brothers and sisters in Africa, Asia and the Americas: from working in the midst of a civil war in South Sudan, to ministering among the indigenous peoples of Central Peru, to advocacy work at the United Nations in New York. All very different apostolates but with one common purpose: preaching the Gospel of Christ.

La festa del Sacro Cuore è per noi un’occasione per riflettere sul suo significato, alla luce della qualità del cuore missionario di san D. Comboni. Il Cuore di Gesù, infatti, ha trovato una fedele re-incarnazione, per così dire, in quello del Comboni nel contesto missionario e della Spiritualità del S. Cuore del diciannovesimo secolo. Quello che si dice di S. Paolo: Cor Christi cor Pauli, si può dirlo anche di san Daniele Comboni.

Eram as cinco da tarde quando os meus pés pisaram terra sudanesa, de onde estive ausente desde havia meio ano. O avião já tinha começado a baixar e, muitos dos passageiros espreitávamos pela janelita do assento para ver a cidade de Cartum desde o alto. Mas só se via uma cor amarela muito, muito espessa. Nada de estranho, é certo, para quem vive em lugares desérticos, onde as tempestades de areia são parte do ambiente climático. Mas outra coisa é acontecer no momento de uma aterragem…
Meeting of the Comboni Missionaries in charge of media in Europe

The confreres in charge of Comboni publications in Europe, directors and administrators, met in the Comboni house of Maia, Portugal, on May 27-31. The formation theme chosen for this year was “Religious marketing. New means of editorial circulation”. It was presented by the Portuguese experts João Maria Neves and Cristina Alçada. Fr. José da Silva Vieira, provincial superior of Portugal and in charge of the media sector at the European level, was the moderator.
Comboni Workshop “Interculturality and the Challenge of Ethnocentrism in South Sudan”

From May 7-9, 2019, we had our workshop on intercultural living and the challenge of ethnocentrism in South Sudan with 16 participants, including Fr Johnson (Palica) and Mr Isaac Kenyi (SSCBC) and 3 Comboni sisters. We invited Fr Basilio and Loes Lijnders from the Justice and Peace department of the Catholic University to give an input and facilitate a discussion.

Vescovo spagnolo, 67 anni a giugno, Mons. Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, nuovo presidente del Pontificio Consiglio per il Dialogo Interreligioso, succede al cardinale Tauran, morto l’anno scorso. Esperto di islam, come missionario comboniano ha vissuto per molti anni in Egitto e Sudan.
