South Sudan’s Bishops Denounce Wrongful Use of “military action”

The wrongful use of “military action” at the expense of dialogue to address socio-political challenges in South Sudan is behind the protracted violent conflicts in the country, Catholic Bishops in the East African nation have said. In a collective statement following their July 7-11 Juba Ecclesiastical Province Annual Plenary meeting that brings together Catholic Bishops in South Sudan, the Bishops urge the implementation of the September 2018 Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS). Catholic Bishops in Ethiopia Call for “unified voice”

Members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Ethiopia (CBCE) have called for a “united voice” in confronting the ongoing challenges that the Horn of Africa nation faces, especially persistent violent conflicts. In a communiqué shared on July 13 following their 58th Plenary Assembly that concluded on July 11, the CBCE members say the situation currently in Ethiopia “calls more than ever” for a unified voice.
