As the school closes in June, on the 27th, at the Balaka Intercongregational Institute the last official act has been the awarding of the bachelor degree to the postulants of five Institutes. At the presence of two bishops and the rector of the Catholic University of Malawi, some 35 young men graduated with 6 Comboni students among them. While handing the awards, Bishop Tumbuka asked the new graduates to become men of faith and wisdom. He also recalled the great invaluable work done by the missionaries in bringing the faith in this part of the world. Finally he challenged the future missionary candidates to become more creative and to open to new forms of ministry and missionary service without necessarily repeating what the normal diocesan clergy is already doing. May the Holy Spirit inspire them with wisdom to be able to counteract the many attacks that the Catholic faith is experiencing, but without making it just more appealing to the society of today.
