The 90 years of the Comboni missionary Fr. Giovanni Vedovato

The Comboni community of Lucca organized a nice party to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Fr. Giovanni Vedovato [in the picture], born on 23 November, 1926, in Borgoricco, Italy. Fr. Giovanni was ordained a priest on May 30, 1953. He worked as a missionary for 16 years in Spain, 9 in Chile and the rest in Italy. On the day of his anniversary he made this beautiful prayer: “Lord, I thank you for the 90 years of missionary journey travelled together. In these 90 years I have seen many beautiful things, I met many good people, and I contemplated your many wonders. Thank you, Lord, for having walked with me. Help me to look with your eyes at the events of life, my history and future. Bless my present and help me to always discover You, your good heart and your love. Put on my lips the truth of your word, and in my heart an ever new trust in you, to be able to respond daily to your will. Keep me away from a tired faith, made stale by habit and grant me to live each day, with a young heart, the novelty of the Gospel. Thank you, Lord.”
