Yesterday, friends and benefactors of the Comboni Missionaries at the Curia, in Rome, gathered at the Generalate to share and celebrate with the community a half a day dedicated to mission. The most significant moments of the day were the witness of Bro. Franco Binaghi, who spoke of his life and missionary work in Colombia and of the five years he spent with the pygmies in Mungbere in the DRC, and the celebration of the Eucharist presided over by Fr. Francesco Chemello, recently assigned to the Curia.

Fr. Chemello recounted some of the events of his life in South Sudan, the life of the people and the work of the Comboni Missionaries in the context of the war afflicting the country. In his sermon, referring to the Sunday readings, he underlined in particular the fact that we are all called to be missionaries and proclaim and witness to the Gospel to all creatures, following in the footsteps of Jesus and of our founder St. Daniel Comboni.

The celebration continued in the dining room with a shared meal.
