Fr. Enrique Sánchez returned to Rome yesterday after his visit to the province of Khartoum which took place on September 1-22. During the first part of his visit, Fr. Enrique was able to get in touch with the reality of Sudan, to visit six of the seven communities existing in the territory, to meet the confreres and see their work. During the second part of the visit, the confreres gathered at the provincial house of Khartoum Bahri for three days of provincial assembly followed by five days of retreat preached by the superior general. Two confreres from the delegation of Egypt also attended.

In his evaluation of the visit, Fr. Angelo Giorgetti, provincial superior said that “Fr. Enrique showed great interest and attention for the particular situation in which the province and the confreres have to work, especially due to the restrictions on entry visas. In fact, he expressed his positive surprise in finding out that they are all serene and busy with their tasks, close to the people and sharing their life.” Referring to the confreres, Fr. Angelo concluded: “We, Comboni Missionaries, on our part, welcomed with joy the blessing of this visit and were greatly encouraged to continue in God’s work, once entrusted to Comboni and today placed in our hands.”
