“Sometimes people ask me if I miss Poland, my family and friends. Well I reckon it is absolutely normal to miss all this. There are days when I wish I could be with my family or friends and talk with them, but then I think that I would enjoy it only for a short time, after which I would like to be back here, in Africa”, says Danusia Król, a Comboni Lay Missionary (CLM) from Poland, working among the poorest and most abandoned in Uganda.

“Those thoughts don’t come too often, though, as I rarely have time to sit and daydream. It’s always better to live the here and now, because time flies mercilessly. I am writing about this longing because a few days ago it was the first anniversary of my arrival in Africa, so lots of memories came back to my mind.

To sum up, this year has been rich in new experiences, people, places and cultures. It has been beautiful and it is impossible to describe to the fullest all the situations, feelings and memories I had.

Anyway, you may find most of them on this blog. Thank God for the time I passed in Uganda.

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks working, as usual. The physiotherapy’s area got so much better. During my time here everyone got used to it and now cooperation with doctors and nurses is smoother. It helped me so much to receive the equipment from my people in Poland, for which I thank them once again.”
