The APAC Project and the promise of the rehabilitation of prisoners in Brazil

Valdeci Ferreira, a Brazilian Comboni lay missionary (CLM), has been working for 39 years in an innovative programme for the rehabilitation of prisoners. In the interview published here below, Valdeci explains the APAC project, in which the “recuperandos” (prisoners) themselves hold the keys of the prison and help each other in their rehabilitation and reinsertion into society. “None is beyond rehabilitation” is one of the slogans of APACs and that make possible this dream of giving a new possibility to those who one day made a mistake.
