The Mozambican magazine Vida Nova, in the context of its 65th anniversary celebrations, is preparing to launch next week a book entitled Vida Nova – Uma voz profética de Moçambique (“Vida Nova – A prophetic voice from Mozambique”), which chronicles its journey as a reference point for evangelisation, social justice and the defence of human rights in Mozambique. [In the picture, Fr. Antonio Bonato, Comboni missionary, and Fr. Cantífula de Castro, a diocesan from Nampula]
The book collects testimonies, historical documents and images that reflect the prophetic and transformative role of the magazine since its foundation in 1960. Coordinated by Fathers Antonio Bonato, an Italian Combonian missionary, and Cantífula de Castro, a diocesan priest from Nampula, the project lasted a year and involved the collaboration of seven authors. The publication, subdivided in eight chapters, recounts the crucial moments faced by Vida Nova, from post-independence censorship to the current challenges of digitisation. Father Cantífula points out: “This work is a testimony of a history that cannot be forgotten.” (Vida Nova)
