The Comboni Missionaries in Zambia celebrated a joyful and significant moment on June 21, 2026 when Brother Pedrito Mario made his Perpetual Profession at St. Daniel Comboni Parish in Chama, Eastern Province.
Fr. Andrew Bwalya, Provincial Superior, presided the Eucharistic celebration that brought together parishioners, confreres, family members and friends to witness Bro. Pedrito's lifelong commitment to God through the Comboni missionary vocation. Chama parish community played a key role in preparing the liturgy, ensuring that every detail contributed to a prayerful and dignified celebration. Marked by both solemnity and joy, the occasion was a testament to God’s continuing call and the generous response of those who dedicate their lives to missionary service.
In his homily, drawing inspiration from the Sunday’s readings, Fr. Andrew reflected on Jesus’ words in the Gospel: “Do not be afraid.” He encouraged Bro. Pedrito to remain steadfast in his vocation and to live his consecration with courage, faith, and trust in God’s providence. He reminded him that faithfulness to the missionary call requires perseverance, especially in moments of challenge and uncertainty.
Originally from Mozambique, Bro. Pedrito is currently serving in Chama Mission, where he works as farm manager and coordinates the mission's social pastoral activities. Through these responsibilities, he contributes to both the material and pastoral development of the local community.
Bro. Pedrito was born 37 years ago in Netia, in Northern Mozambique. He made his first vows in the Institute of the Comboni Missionaries in 2017. After spending four years of training in Nairobi, Kenya, he was sent to the Province of Malawi-Zambia in 2022.
The celebration of his Perpetual Profession was a moment of thanksgiving for the Church and the Comboni family, as Bro. Pedrito entrusted his future completely to God in service of the Gospel and the mission.
