Mozambique: Provincial retreat concludes with the perpetual profession of Felizardo Azevedo

The spiritual exercises, which are part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Combonis in Mozambique, concluded on Saturday, August 22, at the Anchilo Catechetical Center in the Archdiocese of Nampula. During the concluding Mass, the scholastic Felizardo Azevedo made his perpetual profession in the Institute.
Guided by the theme “Rekindle the Gift of God,” 37 missionaries working in the northern, central, and southern regions of the country concluded the retreat that started on Monday, August 17, and celebrated the perpetual vows of the Mozambican Combonian Felizardo Azevedo.
Fr. Luigi Codianni, Superior General of the Institute, closed the spiritual exercises — which he directed — with a strong call to action through the reflection “Sent anew”.
The participants left this intense time of prayer aware that the mission is born from the gift received, lives by selfless generosity, and demands the total giving of one’s life.
The perpetual profession of the scholastic Felizardo took place during the concluding Eucharist, which gathered all the confreres of the retreat, along with family members and friends.
The Mass was presided over by Fr. Codianni, who received the vows and welcomed and incorporated the young Mozambican into the Institute.
The Comboni prelate Mgr. António Constantino, Bishop of Caia and Apostolic Administrator of Beira, was also present.
On Sunday, August 23, the celebrations of the Comboni presence in Mozambique, under the motto “80 years with the mission in the heart,” moved to the Carapira mission in the Diocese of Nacala.
