The Comboni Unification Commission for the circumscriptions of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru began its work on September 16 at the Provincial House in São Paulo, Brazil. The in-person meeting will conclude on September 18.

The Commission is made up of Fathers Raimundo Rocha and Mossi Kuami, representing Brazil; Father Jorge Benavides and Brother Abel Godfrey, representing Colombia; Fathers Nelson Mitchell and Edison Lopez, representing Peru; and Fathers Juan Rodríguez and Alcides Costa, representing Ecuador.

The Superior General, Father Luigi Codianni, and the Vicar General, Father David Domingues, are also attending the meeting while visiting the province of Brazil.

The in-person gathering is part of the ongoing reflection on the process of reconfiguration within the Comboni Institute.

After receiving various contributions and proposals from the grass-roots, the Commission is now preparing a draft Provincial Directory, which will be presented to the General Council in January 2027.

The document will highlight the missionary identity of the new province and the Comboni presence in South America. It will also define priorities, areas of activity and services, along with other key aspects of the organization and mission of the future province.
