Armando González Rodríguez was born on 23 March, 1975, at Zitácuaro, Michoacán. After primary and secondary school, he continued his studies at the Comboni seminary of San Francisco del Rincón, Gto. From there he went on to the postulancy at Xochimilco where he followed from dal 1993 to 1996, at the Institute for Priestly Formation of the Archdiocese of Mexico City. His formators wrote of him at that time: “We note Armando’s good heart, his love for the missions and the Comboni missionaries, his very natural serenity and his sense of responsibility in the tasks allotted to him”.
On 22 August, 1996, he joined the novitiate and took first vows on 9 May, 1998.
At Elstree theologate in England, he studied theology at the “Missionary Institute of London” from 1998 to 2003; he took perpetual vows on 29 November, 2002, and was ordained deacon on 8 December. A year later, on 15 November, 2003, at the cathedral of Morelia, Mich., he was ordained priest by Mgr. Francisco Moreno Barrón, Auxiliary Bishop and Vicar general of the Archdiocese of Morelia.
He was appointed to the Province of Mexico on 1 July, 2003, and, on 21 July of the same year he was appointed to the community of San Francisco del Rincón, Gto. where he continued to work in vocations promotion.
For some years, Fr. Armando had been with his family. Admitted to hospital with cancer, he died of a heart attack on 8 December, 2014, at Morelia, Michoacán, at the age of 39 years, assisted by his elderly father. A few days earlier he had received the laicisation rescript but he never came to know about it. Some confreres attended his funeral. He was buried in the cemetery of Morelia.
