On Saturday, May 14 four young men from different countries made their first profession as Comboni Missionaries at the novitiate of Xochimilco. They are: Daniel Víctor León Vázquez from Peru, Deivith Harly Zanioli Gonçalves from Brazil, Telmo Efraín Castillo Merino from Ecuador, and Jalver Lizcano González from Colombia. Having completed the two year novitiate training, they chose to dedicate their lives to the service of the missions. Besides the 23 concelebrants several other confreres, Comboni Sisters, relatives and friends from near and far were also present. The liturgy was organized by the postulants from San Francisco del Rincón.

Fr. Rafael González Ponce, provincial superior of Ecuador, presided at the Eucharist accompanied by the provincials of the American provinces who had been meeting to plan the leadership activities of the following months.

In his homily, Fr. Rafael underlined three items of great importance in the life of the newly professed: their belonging to God, to the mission and to a religious family.

The new Comboni professed will now continue their studies leading to perpetual vows. Daniel Victor and Jalver Lizcano will go to Lima, Peru; Deivith will go to Casavatore, Italy; Telmo Efraín will be in Kinshasa. [Fr. Gabriel Estrada, mccj].
