The Asia Delegation Assembly took place from May 8 to 13 and for the first time in Taiwan, as if to span the size of our Asian reality. Twice before it was held in Macau (2001 and 2011) and all the other years in the Philippines. The past was analyzed by means of the reports of the different sectors: Evangelization, Formation, Vocation and Mission Promotion. The relative smallness of our Comboni group (around twenty members) always contrasts with the relevant amount of quality work done: a reason for continuous gratitude and appreciation. The future was represented by the Six Years Plan that was finalized in the Assembly itself. But the best experience was the joy of the present: the communion, the brotherhood and the enthusiasm of being together once again. The present challenges of our Asian mission were illustrated to us by Fr. Willie, CICM, a missionary with a long experience of the Chinese world.

On 12 October took place the Catholic Mass Media Award Ceremony in Manila. World Mission Magazine was granted an Award for the best website, and two honorable citations, for the merits as Family Oriented Magazine and the short story “Tsunami of Forgiveness” by Fr. Lorenzo Carraro. We thank the Lord for this signs of encouragement to continue our work of Mission Promotion through World Mission Magazine and we share our joy with all the collaborators who made World Mission possible, from the production to the administration, circulation and promotion... and, naturally, with the subscribers and readers.

The Comboni Missionaries of the Delegation of Asia held their yearly meeting in Manila, Philippines on May 5-13. The meeting included a five day spiritual retreat guided by superior general Fr. Tesfaye Tadessec Gebresilasie, a day of ongoing formation on the 18th General Chapter and its implementation, and finally the Delegation Assembly. All of the members of the circumscription attended. The Comboni Missionaries set up, fifteen years ago, a structure called “Fen Xiang”, born out of the need to coordinate some activities and strategies, especially in the fields of Formation and Human Promotion in China, in collaboration with the local church. Two characters form the term Fen Xiang (Sharing): “Fen”, which means to divide or to share, and “Xiang”, the character for joy and good experience. Joined together indicate sharing, both feelings and experiences, joys and sufferings, as well as material goods. In sharing, both sides can give and receive, originating a reciprocal flow.

The 37th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) was held on 4 November, 2015, at the Star City Theater. The theme was “Communicating the Family: A Privileged Place of Encounter with the Gift of Love” based on the message of Pope Francis for World Communications Day last January 24. Founded by the late Archbishop Jaime L. Cardinal Sin, in 1978, the CMMA Foundation received, this year, a total number of 803 entries in 60 mass media categories in the broad fields of print, radio, television, advertising, music, and internet. “Comboni Mission Magazine”, the quarterly magazine of the North American Province, has received an important award – by Fr. Joseph Bragotti, Comboni missionary –, for the year 2014, from the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada. Indeed, among all the Catholic magazines – not just the mission ones – was awarded second place for its attention to the problem of immigration.
