In the presence of all the Comboni Missionaries of the Delegation of Asia who had already stayed in Tagaytay for their Annual Retreat and Assembly, and in the presence of his family, some relatives and friends, the young Filipino Benjosef Raposa, embraced on 25th of May 2018 the vows of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience, thus becoming a member of the Comboni Family. Benjosef was in Quezon City (Philippines) for his Postulancy and in Mexico for his Noviciate. The atmosphere of the celebration was of gratitude and joy.

Fen Xiang’s 20th Anniversary in Macau

The year 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of “Fen Xiang” Project, in Macau. In the past two decades, FX has opened different fronts and venues in its collaboration with the Church in China, both the underground as well as the public community. FX has implemented its aims following the itinerant missionary approach, mainly through trips made from Macau into the mainland. In October 21, 1998, a first draft of the aim and purpose of Fen Xiang was worked out. Soon, it started developing into a kind of China Office, which enabled the Comboni missionaries to have a presence in mainland China. This was carried out in various ways that aimed at a main objective: formation of the person, in its different aspects. For a missionary congregation in Asia, China with its population, long history and rich Cristian witnesses and martyrs, along the centuries, cannot be ignored.
World Mission receives award for Best Family-oriented magazine

World Mission magazine was awarded the Best-Family oriented magazine trophy at the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) on October 25, in Manila. This is the fourth time World Mission, a publication of the Comboni Missionaries in the Philippines, wins the trophy in this category. The theme of this year’s CMMA was “Fear not, for I am with you (Isaiah 43:5): Communicating hope and trust in our time”, based on the Social Communication Day message of Pope Francis. Fr. Jemboy Salarde Caspis: God’s gift for Mission

The Comboni missionary Jemboy Salarde Caspis was ordained to the Priesthood in the morning of October 27, in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Lagao, General Santos City (Philippines), by the imposition of the hands of His Excellency Dinualdo D. Gutierrez, Bishop of Marbel. About thirty priests (Combonis and of other religious families and some diocesan as well) concelebrated in this joyful event where the numerous people who gathered for this occasion created a beautiful atmosphere of a family excited to see one of their own embrace the priesthood for he missionary service of the church in the family of the Comboni missionaries.
Silver Jubilee of ordination of Fr. Ignacio Enrique Marín

Yesterday, at our Daniel Comboni Seminary Community in Quezon City (Philippines), we joyfully celebrated the Silver Jubilee of ordination of Fr. Marín Artavia Ignacio Enrique from Costa Rica. Fr. Marín was ordained priest on the 29th of August 1992, but the celebration of the Anniversary was anticipated to the 27th since Sundays are always better than weekdays for celebrations of this kind. While celebrating, different posters and different messages reminded us of the 150th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Institute which was like the frame within which everything was done. [...]
Asia Delegation: symphony of anniversaries

The Asia Delegation Assembly took place from May 8 to 13 and for the first time in Taiwan, as if to span the size of our Asian reality. Twice before it was held in Macau (2001 and 2011) and all the other years in the Philippines. The past was analyzed by means of the reports of the different sectors: Evangelization, Formation, Vocation and Mission Promotion. The relative smallness of our Comboni group (around twenty members) always contrasts with the relevant amount of quality work done: a reason for continuous gratitude and appreciation. The future was represented by the Six Years Plan that was finalized in the Assembly itself. But the best experience was the joy of the present: the communion, the brotherhood and the enthusiasm of being together once again. The present challenges of our Asian mission were illustrated to us by Fr. Willie, CICM, a missionary with a long experience of the Chinese world.
