Rome, Thursday, June 14, 2012
The meeting started on the 21st May 2012 up to the 24th May, 2012 at the Dominican Sisters’ Community in Namugongo. Eighteen Ugandan Comboni Lay Missionaries (CLMU) participants turned up for the meeting: 13 of them were from Uganda and 5 were foreign lay missionaries who are working in Uganda. Two Comboni priests facilitated the day of recollection and the three-day general assembly.

The briefing, introduction and the place of our missionary assignment was done soon after our arrival. During the first day, we had a retreat and also a reflection on the Word of God for one whole day. It was concluded with a Mass that started at 6:00 PM.

On the second day we had a report on the Coordinators’ International Conference, which took place at Layibi, Gulu District. There were three discussion groups, formed and facilitated by the provincial superior, which focused on the challenges facing the CLMU’s in their area of assignment. The general Assembly was held on the third day, when the Coordinator discussed the reports from the different areas, focusing on the projects, activities and the zonal reports.

The assembly was concluded with a Mass and recommitment of the members who had served for more than 3 years, who signed their recommitment letters. This was witnessed and approved by the provincial superior and the coordinator, Mr Otto Bartholomew.

The meeting ended at 3:00 pm with a closing remark from the coordinator, who thanked the provincial superior Fr. Hategek’Imana Sylvester and the hosting community for enabling the members to have a successful meeting.
