Saturday, October 19, 2013, the Golden Jubilee of the arrival of the first eight Comboni Missionaries in Lomé, Togo, will open with a solemn celebration. The celebration will take place in Kodjoviakope, the first Comboni parish in this Western African country. In attachment we publish the message (the original in French) of the Bishops of Togo at the opening of the Jubilee.

This jubilee year of the arrival of the Comboni Missionaries in Togo will culminate on January 19, 2014: the day of the arrival of the Comboni Missionaries fifty years ago. For the occasion, the Bishops of Togo have written a message to the Comboni Missionaries of the province of TGB, a message of communion for the journey made together with local Churches at the service of evangelization.

Still in Togo, on September 28, 2013, in the Cathedral of Atakpame (Togo) Fr. Jean de Dieu Hounongbe (in the center of the picture) was ordained priest by the laying on of the hands of Mgr. Nicodème Barrigah, bishop of Atakpame.

Fr. Jean de Dieu is the fifth Comboni priest ordained in 2013 for the province of TGB. “We thank the Lord and St. Daniel Comboni,” said Fr. Girolamo Miante (in the picture on the right), provincial superior of the TGB.
