On Tuesday December 17, 2013, a Requiem mass was celebrated at the Comboni Catholic Mission of Ombaci near Arua Town, Uganda, to pay the last respects to the late Fr. Isaac Adaku who had passed away suddenly in Rome on December 4, 2013. The Mass was presided over by His Grace John Baptist Odama, the Archbishop of Gulu, assisted by the Right Reverend Sabino Ocan Odoki, Bishop of Arua, Right Reverend Sanctus Linus Wanok, Bishop of Nebbi Diocese, Fr. Sylvester Hategek’Imana, Provincial Superior of the Comboni Missionaries in Uganda and scores of priests and religious.

There was a huge crowd of faithful Christians, including a large delegation from Kitgum mission, where Fr. Isaac worked before coming to Rome for the Comboni Year of Ongoing Formation (CYOF).

Fr. Isaac was buried next to the tomb of the Servant of God Fr. Bernardo Sartori.

Fr. John Baptist Keraryo Opargiw, representing the General Administration at the funeral, noted the gratitude and the love manifested by a cross section of the people gathered for Fr. Isaac’s prayer and burial. Fr. Chris Aleti, a member of the CYOF, was also present at the burial where he read out a poem signed by all the participants at the CYOF in Rome.
