Dear confreres, greetings from Rome! The work of the Pre-capitular Commission is still going on, by now in its third week! In this week, we have prepared a proposed program for the Chapter, focusing especially on the organization of the preparatory week, from August 31 to September 4, the coordination of which was entrusted to us.

On Friday 19, we met with Mgr. Marcello Semeraro, Bishop of Albano and Secretary of the group of Cardinals that Pope Francis chose as his closest advisors (the so-called ‘G8’). He will guide us in the deepening of the Evangelii gaudium in the light of our challenges as Comboni Missionaries and will lead us in a day of retreat during the preparatory week.

In this same week, the Commission spent a day in prayer and sharing, to let the Spirit inspire and encourage us in his ways in the complexity of visions, experiences and different proposals that have reached us in view of the Chapter.

These are days in which the publication of the new Encyclical Laudato si’ of Pope Francis shakes us up, calls us to responsibility, while inviting us not to lose hope. Let us entrust ourselves to the Lord asking for the right attitudes in preparation for the XVIII General Chapter of the Institute.
