The Comboni Brothers of the Italian province met in Pesaro for their yearly meeting under the topic,’150 years from the birth of the Institute – Comboni Brothers for today’s mission.” The meeting lasted from the evening of April 30 to May 3. More than 30 brothers attended, coming from the various communities of the province and also from the general curia and other European provinces. “At the shrine of Loreto prayers were offered in particular for some brothers who are seriously ill, entrusting them to the loving care of the Blessed Virgin and of St. Daniel Comboni.

The meeting had a dual purpose: to renew the awareness of one’s vocation in the light of the last General Chapter and of current events, and examine together one of the last steps in the organization of the six-year plan on which the province is working.

The program of the yearly meeting of the brothers included an overview of history from the time of our founding given by Comboni Fr. Fidel González Fernández, a deeper study of the phenomenon of migration moderated by two young people involved in welcoming asylum seekers (Alessandro Lorato and Giulio Farronato) and by Comboni Fr. Alessandro Bedin, plus times for sharing and relaxation.

On the third day, Fr. Giovanni Munari, provincial superior of Italy, had the opportunity to present the draft of the six-year plan and receive comments and suggestions from the brothers.

The time given to personal witness, where about 10 brothers had the chance to tell about key episodes in the understanding and evolution of their vocation, and an outing/pilgrimage to the shrine of Loreto added to the meeting a note of deep gratitude for the gifts received.
