The non-governmental organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) strongly condemns the attack that hit its hospital in Old Fangak, South Sudan, this morning [Saturday, May 3, 2025], causing the injury of one patient and two health workers, while the pharmacy and all the hospital supplies were destroyed. The attacks, MSF reports in a note, also hit the market and the town of Old Fangak, causing at least seven deaths and 20 injuries. [MSF and Agenzia Nova.news]
Despite the attack, MSF has been treating the wounded – four of whom are in critical condition – in its hospital, which is the only hospital in the county that can cater to over 110 people. MSF’s hospital in Old Fangak was hit by a bombing this morning, when two helicopter gunships dropped a bomb on the MSF pharmacy at around 4:30 a.m. local time, reducing it to ashes, before continuing to bomb the town of Old Fangak for around 30 minutes. Then, around 7 a.m., a drone bombed the town’s market, causing at least seven deaths and 20 injuries. “At 8 a.m., we treated around 20 wounded in our hospital in Old Fangak, four of whom are in critical condition,” said Dr. Maman Mustapha, MSF head of mission in South Sudan.
