From 3rd to 21st November, the Superior General of the Comboni Missionaries, Fr. Luigi Codianni [on the right in the photo], is visiting the confrères working in Sudan. On 3rd November, he arrived in Port Sudan, a city that has effectively become the country’s capital since the outbreak of the conflict in April 2023, when fierce fighting erupted in Khartoum between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Fr. Luigi’s itinerary also includes visits to Kosti and Khartoum, accompanied by the Provincial Superior, Fr. Diego Dalle Carbonare. On 29th October, Frs. Yousif William and Lorenzo Baccin, departing from Port Sudan, traveled to Omdurman (Khartoum) with the aim of reopening our missionary presence there.

In the photos below, we see Fr. Luigi and Fr. Diego visiting several educational institutions in Port Sudan under the responsibility of our confrères: the Inqaz and Philip primary schools on the outskirts (Fr. Pious Anyaja), the secondary school (Fr. Martin Ramirez), and the Comboni College of Science and Technology (Frs. Jorge Naranjo and Deogratius Alule).

Let us accompany them with our prayers, that the Lord may protect and guide them in this delicate mission.
