Meeting in Rome from May 15 to 17, 2026, the General Assembly of CREC International elected its new Board of Directors and appointed its main offices. During the meeting, Fr. Fabrizio Colombo, a Comboni missionary who has been involved for many years in the development of Catholic media, was elected president of the association for a three-year term (2026-2029).
CREC International is a French non-profit organization with an international mission, working in practical training and consulting in communication and media. Each year, it supports priests, bishops, seminarians and media professionals in addressing the challenges of contemporary communication, particularly those shaped by digital transformation and the rise of artificial intelligence.
The association also develops specialized programs in the field of Communication and Safeguarding, aimed at the prevention and responsible management of communication related to various forms of abuse.
Fr. Fabrizio Colombo, a Comboni missionary long engaged in the development of Catholic media, particularly in Africa, was elected President of CREC International. Among the projects he has accompanied and helped to deliver are UCTV, the Catholic national television of Uganda, the network of Catholic radios in Burkina Faso, and the upgrade of the radio, television and film post-production studios of the Université Catholique de l’Afrique de l’Ouest – Unité Universitaire d’Abidjan (UCAO-UUA), in Ivory Coast.
Fr. Fabrizio spent nine years of missionary service in Chad, contributing to the multimedia work of the Service Audiovisuel de Communication (SAVE) in Sarh and to the founding of Radio Lotiko, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Among the first priorities announced by the new board of directors, chaired by Fabrizio Colombo, is the structuring of CREC Africa and the appointment of coordinators for the French-speaking and English-speaking areas of the African continent. This initiative aims to strengthen the association's connection with the realities and needs of the Church in Africa in the field of media and digital communication.
Inspired by the vision of its founder, Fr. Pierre Babin, CREC International promotes a communication approach that prioritises “the search for more creative forms of intellectual and spiritual expression”, based on “sensory experience”.
