The provincial headquarters of the Comboni Missionaries in Cacaveli, Lomé, Togo, is hosting a training course from October 20 to 23 on multimedia communication, artificial intelligence, and the use of a shared digital platform.
More than twenty people are participating in the course, including a Comboni sister, Comboni lay missionaries, and lay collaborators involved in parish life and various pastoral activities throughout the Province.
The training is being led by Father Fabrizio Colombo, an Italian Comboni missionary; Charles Ayetan, from Togo; and Jacob Brahim Konfé, from Burkina Faso.
The course is primarily intended for communication officers and missionary animators of the Togo-Ghana-Benin Province. Its aim is to strengthen their skills in producing multimedia content for social media and for a digital platform shared by the French-speaking Comboni provinces.
In his opening address, Father Fidèle Katsan, the Provincial Superior, emphasized the importance of this initiative in implementing some of the recommendations of the 2022 General Chapter concerning communication and the use of new digital technologies.
He also expressed his gratitude to Father Colombo and the other experts for their willingness to travel to Togo and participate in the course in person. They had initially been invited to take part remotely via SMA TV. Their presence represents a valuable added benefit, giving participants the opportunity to learn directly from the experts, engage in discussions, and share experiences.
During the course, participants will deepen their knowledge and acquire practical tools to improve the Church’s missionary communication.
The initiative seeks to promote the effective use of digital technologies to proclaim the Gospel, share missionary experiences, and strengthen collaboration among the French-speaking Comboni provinces.
By integrating multimedia communication and artificial intelligence into their missionary activities, the Comboni Missionaries aim to respond creatively to the challenges and opportunities of the digital age, keeping technology at the service of evangelization and communion.
