The Comboni Missionaries in Poland recently invited their confrere Father David Glenday to share his reflections on Pope Leo’s letter Dilexi Te regarding love for the poor. The texts which follow – a general introduction and a brief personal response to each of the letter's five chapters – is the result. Fr David has been a priest for almost fifty years and served in Uganda and the Philippines. He was superior general of the Comboni Missionaries from 1991 to 1997.

Catholic Bishops Condemn Killing of Nearly 170 in South Sudan

Catholic Bishops in Sudan and South Sudan have condemned the reported killing of at least 170 people in two separate incidents in South Sudan. In a statement issued by members of the Sudan and South Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SSS-CBC), the Church leaders have described the attacks as a “fresh descent into the abyss of human depravity” and have called for urgent action to end cycles of violence and impunity in the world’s youngest nation. Erection of the New Diocese of Caia and Installation of Bishop António Constantino

On 25th February, Caia (Sofala Province – central Mozambique) experienced a historic moment with the Mass marking the erection of the new diocese and the installation of its first bishop, Bishop António Manuel Bogaio Constantino. The event took place at the parish church dedicated to Saint Matthew the Apostle, now elevated to cathedral status.

La Chiesa portoghese sta accogliendo più missionari di quanti ne invii, e il numero di missionari portoghesi all’estero è diminuito. È quanto emerge dai risultati di un’indagine condotta dalle Pontificie Opere Missionarie (POM) nel 2025. La Chiesa che ha portato il Vangelo con le caravelle in Africa, Asia e America è oggi servita anche da battezzati di quelle stesse Chiese. Le caravelle sono tornate e il ciclo dell’evangelizzazione si è chiuso attraverso la comunione tra Chiese che inviano e accolgono simultaneamente. [Padre José Vieira, MCCJ]
