Two young lay Comboni missionaries talk to us about their experience among a people fighting for their rights and dignity. “The history of Piquiá goes back almost 60 years and it would be a small paradise, but it experienced the beginning of its decline in 1985, when the railway built by the mining giant Vale S.A. was inaugurated. This meant the transportation of iron from the huge deposit in the Serra do Carajás, one of the largest mines in the world, in the distant city of São Luís.” [...]

AEFJN ECHO has reached the 100^th release, and this is quite an achievement! As a simple, handy and easy to read means of communication, Echo remains the most immediate channel for sharing about the life and the work of our network. Even more importantly, it is also an amplifier of the voice of the excluded, which when it is heard in policy spaces, makes power in political and social processes shift from the hands of the few, such as corporations and private interests, to people and communities.
