The Spring Session on Islam and Mission and the Residential Seminar on Living Green Mission of this year have been a great success with many people attending online the different talks. Of course, I’m sure that many miss the familial and prayerful atmosphere of the seminars where we can discuss also other things during the breaks or at table. [

We plan therefore, if God permits, to hold the next SEDOS Residential Seminar again in Casa Divin Maestro, Ariccia, and it will be from 2 – 6 May 2022, but to offer the talks also online for those living abroad. The theme will be FORMATION FOR MISSION.

Formation in the mission ad gentes, and accompaniment of missionaries (initial and ongoing formation) is important. A missionary struggles to fit into a new reality (adaptation, inculturation,…). This insertion is not an automatic one. The person needs support. How to accompany? And how to accompany those who must then accompany other people in the mission? These are some of our guiding questions for this seminar.

Let us contemplate for a while on this painting, painted by Sr. Eleanor L. Ianes, ICM,
allowing the image to touch our hearts and speak to us.
The context of this painting is the Amazon forest. This painting by Sr. Eleanor,
depicts the contrasting experiences in the amazon forest.

Next, we are starting with the preparation of the Autumn Seminar of this year that will be a SEDOS Mission Symposium (online) from 11 to 15 October 2021. We have collected – thanks to your cooperation – articles from about 30 people mostly from among SEDOS Members. Those articles will be published by Orbis Books in the beginning of next year, but they will be first presented at the Symposium. It will be thus a great event since the last SEDOS Mission Symposium was in 1989, 30 years ago. The program will be send out soon, but you can find more information already on our website.

The participation to the Mission Symposium will be – thanks to your annual contribution – free of charge. We ask you therefore to make the needed animation for it among your members.

Wishing you a fine refreshing summer holiday,
