Comboni girls: Different groups, one family, one mission

We are girls who want to grow in faith, education, friendship, dignity, courage, service, and love. We believe that every girl is created in the image of God and has talents, gifts, and dreams that can be used for the good of others.

And we believe something very important: all of us are missionaries. We do not need to wait until we are adults to become missionaries. We are missionaries today — in our families, schools, communities, friendships, and wherever we are. We are missionaries when we bring hope, peace, kindness, forgiveness, justice, and love to other people.

What we do

Comboni Girls is a place where girls can pray, learn, play, share, create, serve, and grow together.

We deepen our relationship with God through prayer, Bible sharing, Christian formation, reflection, and discussion. We learn about our dignity, self-worth, responsibility, leadership, peace, justice, relationships, and the importance of education.

We also develop our talents through sport, music, dance, poetry, drama, public speaking, and other creative activities.

In Wau, we play football and volleyball. We are divided into four families, and we organize competitions among ourselves. Through sport, we learn teamwork, discipline, respect, commitment, friendship, leadership, and how to celebrate together.

At the moment, we are preparing for our Comboni Day on October 10, when we will celebrate through dances, songs, poems, speeches, and other presentations. It will be a beautiful opportunity for the girls to share their talents and celebrate our identity as Comboni Girls.

Our dreams

We dream of becoming strong, educated, confident, responsible, and faith-filled young ladies. We dream of a future where every girl is respected, protected, educated, and given the opportunity to discover and develop her talents.

We dream of becoming teachers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, leaders, professionals, mothers, missionaries, and women who use their gifts to serve others.

We dream of a South Sudan where young women take an active role in building peace, justice, reconciliation, development, and a better future.

We dream of becoming women who are not afraid to speak, to lead, to serve, and to stand up for what is right.

Inspired by St. Daniel Comboni, we believe that our talents are gifts from God, and that our gifts are not only for ourselves.
