Fr. Jorge Manuel was born on 5 January, 1938, at Gouveia (Portugal) and was ordained in 1966. He worked in Brazil up to 1974. He moved to the NAP for studies and stayed there until 1979; he was then sent to Portugal were he worked in mission promotion until 1987. He then went to the diocese of Mainz, in Germany, for apostolate among the Portuguese immigrants. He left the Comboni community in 1987.
In 2011 he expressed the desire to become incardinated in a diocese of Portugal. The Institute arranged with the bishop of Guarda to receive Fr. Jorge Manuel into his diocese on a temporary basis.
Fr. Jorge Manuel died of cancer on 15 February, 2015.
