Christmas 2020
Nowhere else in the world can you witness Christmas celebrations lasting longer than in the Philippines. It starts in September and ends with the Epiphany. Simbang Gabi “night masses” in December is one of the main features of the season.

O padre Manuel António da Silva Machado, missionário comboniano, que passou 25 anos em Macau, dá conta de um caminho de “altos e baixos” no encontro com uma cultura e língua “muito diferentes” em terras asiáticas. “Não se podia fazer muito. Não somos muitos, mas em colaboração com a Igreja local e outros grupos missionários, procurámos ser uma presença dos valores do Evangelho, numa cultura que não conhecia ou até os desvalorizava”, explica à Agência Ecclesia o missionário que actualmente reside na comunidade comboniana, em Viseu.

All the Comboni Missionaries of the two communities of the Philippines, joined also by the Postulants, gathered together, on the evening of October 10, Feast of Saint Daniel Comboni, in the residence of the Novitiate in Quezon City, Manila, to witness the official acceptance of the postulant Francis Xavier Dao Quang Vinh to the new formation stage of the Novitiate. Francis comes from Vietnam and has joined our formation program after a working experience.
P. Victor Manuel Aguilar ha ricevuto il Premio Bellarmino

P. Victor Manuel Aguilar Sánchez ha ricevuto il Premio Bellarmino per la sua tesi di laurea: “Corpus Nestorianum Sinicum” (un estratto della tesi è stato pubblicato su MCCJ-Bulletin 280, luglio 2019, pp. 57-68). Il Premio Bellarmino è stato istituito dalla Pontificia Università Gregoriana per stimolare la ricerca scientifica e promuovere le due migliori tesi di laurea difese nel corso di ogni anno scolastico. La decisione di premiare la tesi di P. Victor è stata presa il 30 aprile 2020 dall’Ufficio del Vice Rettore Accademico e dalla Commissione incaricata di valutare le candidature, dopo un’approfondita valutazione del lavoro di ricerca svolto dai singoli candidati.
Asia: official visit of Fr. Tesfaye and Fr. Alcides and resumption of the novitiate

The Delegation of Asia joyfully welcomed Fr. Tesfaye Tadesse and Fr. Alcides Costa for their official visit to the Delegation from the 1st. to the 14th. of October. Though the time was not too long, they managed to visit all the communities and have their personal dialogues with all the confreres. This was certainly a great moment of animation of all the confreres and of a greater communion with the whole Institute.

Il 20 luglio 2019, la piccola parrocchia di Sant’Anna, nel distretto di Wugu, Nuova Città di Taipei, è diventata il centro di una celebrazione “tre in uno”, come l’ha definita l’arcivescovo di Taipei, Mons. John Hung Shan-Chuan, SVD, che ha presieduto l’Eucaristia. Hanno coinciso infatti tre eventi: l’ordinazione diaconale dello Sco. Eduardo Antonio Revolledo Villanueva, la festa parrocchiale e l’insediamento del nuovo parroco.
